Welcome to Shinness Lodge

Shinness Lodge is a large traditional Highland house in Sutherland overlooking Loch Shin.  It is  available all the year round to rent on a self-catering basis for a Scottish holiday.  

The house sleeps 12 in 6 bedrooms (plus a double sofa bed in a downstairs study). It has a spacious living room full of deep armchairs and sofas, with a log fire.  The kitchen is well-equipped and there is a lovely veranda for outdoor eating.  Linen and towels are included so when you arrive your beds will be made up with White Company linen and the towels are big.

Shinness is well situated as a base to play golf or go fishing, to explore the countryside and the dramatic Northern coastlines, or as a relaxing retreat. As a much loved family home the house has a warm and welcoming feel to it.  Shinness is Northern comfort at its best!  The house also has internet access and wifi.

A cook and extra housekeeping can be arranged on request.

Staying here you are within reach of famous golf courses and remote hill lochs full of wild brown trout.  Sutherland's golden beaches are easily accessible and the peatlands are on the doorstep. 

There are good local restaurants and shops and transport links via Inverness Airport and Lairg railway station. But above all, at Shinness, you are away from the pressures of modern living, in a place where the air is clear, you can see the stars at night and the countryside is your playground.
